In the ever-evolving landscape of education, the role of assessment feedback cannot be overstated. This blog chronicles a transformative journey in my classroom culture, where the shift towards immediate and detailed assessment feedback not only improved learning outcomes but also fostered a positive and engaging environment.

Before the transformation, I found myself caught in the cycle of marking student books at home after teaching hours. This process not only consumed my precious free time but also resulted in providing feedback that often went unseen by students.

Recognizing the need for change, I decided to overhaul my approach to assessment feedback. The pivotal moment came when I questioned the effectiveness of conventional methods in truly aiding student growth and understanding.

To bring immediacy and detail to assessment feedback, I adopted a structured approach during class activities. I set tasks for students with a maximum duration of 5 minutes, often shortened to 3 minutes for increased dynamism. During this time, I stopped at each student to check their written work, providing real-time corrections and guidance.

The results were profound. Students became actively engaged in the learning process, fueled by the immediacy of corrections. The realization that their efforts were acknowledged and valued propelled a positive shift in their attitude toward learning.

Immediate feedback not only accelerates the learning process but also empowers students to act on corrections promptly. The swift exchange of information contributes to a more agile and responsive classroom dynamic.

The connection between immediate, detailed feedback, and a positive classroom culture became evident. Students felt seen and valued, leading to increased participation, collaboration, and a shared sense of enthusiasm for academic challenges.

Contrary to misconceptions about detailed feedback being time-consuming, the streamlined process proved to be efficient. The structured tasks and quick, personalized corrections created a rhythm that complemented the learning pace of the class.

In conclusion, the journey towards immediate and detailed assessment feedback

facilitated through structured class activities, has not only revolutionized my teaching approach but has also elevated the overall classroom experience. This blog advocates for a shift in the assessment paradigm, urging educators to embrace a dynamic feedback culture that nurtures a positive and thriving learning environment.
